Trifling variation in truffles
نویسنده
چکیده
Of the ten species of European truffle (fungi of the genus Tuber, phylum Ascomycota), some have economic value because of their organoleptic properties (taste and perfume), in particular the black truffle (Tuber melanosporum Vitt.) and the summer and burgundy truffles"2. The black truffle is mainly found in Spain, France and Italy (Fig. la), and it shows variation in several traits, including in its famous organoleptic properties, across this geographical range. Here we show that this variation probably results from environmental, rather than genetic, influences. In an attempt to explain the variation in T melanosporum across its geographical range and to studythe distribution of genetic variability within and among populations, we analysed fruiting bodies (ascocarps) from different populations in France and Italy for random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and microsatellite polymorphism.

Overall study on Iranian truffles
The Spring season in Iran, especially the months of April and May, is a thriving season for the wild harvesting and sale of fresh medicinal plants and mushrooms that are seen in the form of local markets and seasonal stores during the rainy season. Based on habitats of Iranian truffles, they can be classified in two groups including Desert truffles and Forest truffles. Based on our knowledge de...
متن کاملIntraspecific genotypic variability determines concentrations of key truffle volatiles
• Aroma variability in truffles has been attributed to maturation (Tuber borchii), linked to environmental factors (Tuber magnatum), but the involvement of genetic factors has been ignored. We investigated aroma variability in Tuber uncinatum, a species with wide distribution. Our aim was to assess aroma variability at different spatial scales (i.e. trees, countries) and to quantify how aroma w...

متن کاملTruffle renaissance in Poland – history, present and prospects
The use of truffles in Poland has a long tradition, yet due to some historical aspects, this knowledge was lost. Currently, truffles and truffle orchards are again receiving attention, and thanks to, e.g., historical data, they have solid foundations to be established. Publications relating to truffles between 1661 and 2017 were searched for in international and national databases, such as the ...
